On 5th August 2025, Erick Mukiza, Accredited Mediator and Executive Director of ESS Creative and Legal Foundation, was honored to join a national validation meeting for the Review of the Arbitration Act, Chapter 15, Revised Edition 2020, held at the office of Solicitor General Dar es Salaam.
The meeting, organized by the Law Reform Commission of Tanzania and the Tanzania International Arbitration Centre (TIAC), brought together key stakeholders to shape the future of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Tanzania. It was chaired by Mr. Goodluck Peter Chuwa, Deputy Principal of the Institute of Judicial Administration (IJA), alongside his team of Ms. Consesa Kahendaguza, Assistant Director of the ADR Unit at the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and Ms. Christina Binal from the Law Reform Commission of Tanzania.
Erick’s participation highlights ESS’s growing role in integrating grassroots mediation into the national policy reforms. At ESS, we believe these reforms are a step toward strengthening all forms of ADR, including the inclusive, community-based mediation that ensures timely access to justice for all.
This milestone reflects our commitment to not only practice mediation but to influence policies that make justice more timely, accessible, inclusive, and people-centered (justice must go to ordinary people).
