On April 9th, we had the honor of hosting Aveline Ombock, Principal State Attorney from the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs’ Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Unit, at the offices of ESS Creative and Legal Foundation. Her visit marked a significant step forward in strengthening ties between government institutions and community-led initiatives for inclusive access to justice.

This was not a routine stop—it was a thoughtful and engaged visit. Ms. Ombock took time to understand our work on the ground: how we use mediation to empower communities, particularly Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals, and how we are working to make ADR more accessible and inclusive for all.

Our conversations touched on practical ways to build capacity, improve collaboration, and align grassroots mediation efforts with national justice strategies. It was a meaningful exchange that reaffirmed our shared commitment to a more just, inclusive Tanzania.

We’re grateful for Ms. Ombock’s visit and the Ministry’s openness to partnering with organizations like ours that are driving change from the ground up. Her presence reminded us that transformative justice happens when institutions listen, learn, and walk alongside communities.

At ESS, we remain committed to making mediation a tool that everyone can access—regardless of ability, background, or circumstance. This visit reaffirmed that progress is possible when we work together with purpose and heart.
