The Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs—through its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Unit—continues to play a role in connecting ADR practitioners across Tanzania. I recently experienced this when Ms. Aveline Ombock, Principal State Attorney from the ADR Unit, introduced Ms. Christina Ilumba, a Certified Mediator to me.

Ms. Christina visited my office for an exchange of ideas and best practices in mediation. Our conversation was both practical and inspiring, as we reflected on our journeys, discussed common challenges, and explored how we can jointly promote access to justice through effective mediation.

We were also joined by Lisaruth Boaz Ackim, a young lawyer and upcoming mediator whom I had the pleasure of meeting during the Saba Saba Exhibition at the High Court Mediation Center Pavilion. Lisaruth’s enthusiasm and eagerness to learn are a testament to the importance of mentoring the next generation of ADR professionals. I am honored to support her as a mentee on this path.

This visit marked a step toward strengthening the network of mediators and reinforcing the culture of collaboration that the Ministry strongly promotes. One of the key mandates of the ADR Unit is to coordinate stakeholders and accredited institutions in the ADR ecosystem. By connecting experienced mediators with emerging practitioners, the Unit is helping to create a dynamic environment where knowledge and innovation go hand in hand.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the Ministry—especially the ADR Unit—for their dedication to building these bridges. At ESS Creative and Legal Foundation, we are further advancing this mission by advocating for the creation of a Digital Data Hub to enable mediators nationwide to connect, collaborate, and access essential services.
