ESS Creative and Legal Foundation collaborates with the High Court Mediation Center

Law Week 2025 was an exceptional opportunity for ESS Creative and Legal Foundation to collaborate with the High Court Mediation Center in educating the public on the significance of inclusive mediation. This year’s theme, Tanzania 2050: The Role of Institutions Upholding Civil Justice in Achieving the Main Objectives of the National Development Vision, highlighted the importance of strong legal institutions in fostering justice and national development.

Our Participation and Key Engagements

We express our gratitude to the High Court Mediation Center for inviting us to participate in this prestigious event. This platform provided an invaluable opportunity to engage with senior judicial leaders, including:

  • Judges, magistrates, and registrars
  • Deputy registrars and court clerks
  • Deputy Solicitor General, State attorneys, and other judicial stakeholders

Through these interactions, we were able to share insights on inclusive mediation and discuss how it contributes to making Tanzania’s justice system more accessible and equitable.

Connecting with Key Stakeholders

During the exhibition, we had the privilege of meeting the Chairman of the Jangwani Ward Tribunal, who plays a crucial role in resolving disputes at the ward level. This interaction emphasized the need for integrating inclusive mediation practices at all levels of the justice system.

Educating the Public on the Role of the High Court Mediation Center

As part of our awareness campaign, we educated attendees on the essential functions of the High Court Mediation Center, which include:

  1. Public Education on Mediation: The center is committed to raising awareness about mediation as an effective dispute-resolution mechanism.
  2. Case Resolution: It handles mediation cases originating from the High Court Dar es Salaam Zone and the High Court Land Division.
  3. Research and Improvement: Conduct research into mediation practices to identify areas for enhancement and ensure continuous development.

Looking Ahead

Our participation in Law Week 2025 reaffirmed our commitment to promoting inclusive mediation and ensuring that all individuals, including those with disabilities, have equal access to justice. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the judiciary and other stakeholders to make Tanzania’s justice system more inclusive, efficient, and accessible for all.
