On the 30th and 31st of August 2025, the Tanzania International Arbitration Center (Wakili House, Dar es Salaam) hosted a training titled “Foundation of Commercial Mediation: Bridging Core Principles and Legal Practices in Tanzania.” The program was organized by the Tanzania International Arbitration Center (TIAC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs and IResolve (Tanzania’s Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Experts).
The training was facilitated by Advocate Daniel Mbaki, Principal State Attorney from the ADR Unit of the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, and Advocate Madeline Kimei, Director of IResolve and an internationally and locally accredited ADR practitioner.
Among the participants were Advocate Geofrey Beda Simba and Lisaruth Boaz Ackim community mediator trainee, both Assistant Mediators in the Mediation Department at ESS Creative and Legal Foundation. They are also mentees of our Founder and accredited mediator, Erick Mukiza, in community mediation. As young lawyers and community mediators, their attendance reflects our organization's commitment to nurturing future peacemakers.

The practical mediation skills gained from the training will be applied directly to our ongoing program to advance ADR, particularly mediation at the community level, to ensure timely, accessible access to Justice.
This aligns with the ESS Creative and Legal Foundation model:
- Find community mediators with passion and potential.
- Empower them through mentorship and access to specialized training.
- Include them in our growing Peacemaker Network—the Tanzania Mediation Hub—where they continue to receive mentorship for long-term sustainability.
At ESS Creative and Legal Foundation, we believe training is only the first step. By creating structured pathways for mentorship, accreditation, and professional networking, we ensure that community mediators not only gain skills but also apply them sustainably. This approach directly supports Tanzania’s national vision for accessible, community-driven dispute resolution. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the Ministry and partners in building a strong culture of mediation across the nation.
At ESS Creative and Legal Foundation, we are proud to witness our model shaping the future of mediation in Tanzania.
