On 24 March 2026, ESS Creative and Legal Foundation participated in a mediation public education radio session hosted by Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), following an invitation from the High Court Mediation Center.
The session featured Erick Mukiza, an accredited mediator, and Hon. Augustina Mmbando, the Deputy Registrar at the High Court Mediation Center. The discussion focused on increasing public understanding of mediation, including its benefits, procedures, and accessibility.
Listeners were informed about both private mediation and court-annexed mediation, with clear guidance on how each system operates. Erick Mukiza highlighted the role of community-based mediation in resolving disputes at the grassroots level, while Hon. Augustina Mmbando explained the structure and advantages of court-annexed mediation.
The session also created awareness of the first-ever ADR Week, scheduled to launch on 9 April 2026, with mediation services running from 13 to 17 April 2026. With approval from the Chief Justice, members of the public with ongoing court cases at any stage are encouraged to resolve their disputes through mediation during this period.
This initiative reflects ongoing efforts to promote accessible and efficient dispute resolution in Tanzania.
