ESS Donates Computer to Support Inclusive Mediation at Community Level

ESS Team

On August 1, 2025, ESS Creative and Legal Foundation donated a computer to the Chairman of Mogo Sub-ward, Kipawa Ward in Ilala District, Hon. Caspin Christopher Gikanka. The donation, made at the ESS office, aims to support the digitization of dispute data received and resolved at the community level.

This initiative aligns with Goal 4 of Tanzania Development Vision 2050—a digitally empowered society that fosters innovation and productivity. Specifically, Target 2 calls for over 80% of government services to be accessible through secure, inclusive, and user-friendly digital platforms.

Hon. Gikanka, currently undergoing ESS’s inclusive mediation empowerment program, has successfully mediated 30 community disputes—ranging from land, marriage, and child maintenance to money-related disputes—between December 2024 and August 2025. These cases could have added to the backlog in Tanzania’s formal courts, but instead, were resolved through community-based mediation.

ESS remains committed to partnering with community leaders to enhance local mediation mechanisms. By equipping grassroots offices with inclusive mediation skills and digital tools, we aim to foster a more accessible, efficient, and inclusive justice system for all Tanzanians.
